Description

Adolescence Education Programme for adolescent children aims to empower young people with accurate, age-appropriate and culturally relevant information, promote healthy attitudes and develop skills to enable them to respond to real life situations in positive and responsible ways. This scheme is introduced by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

Objective

This scheme aims to achieve the following goals:

  • To empower young people with accurate, age-appropriate and culturally relevant information, promote healthy attitudes and develop skills to enable them to respond to real life situations in positive and responsible ways.
  • To develop awareness and positive attitude toward population and development issues that may lead to responsible behavior among students and teachers and, indirectly, among parents and the community at large
  • To Reinforce/support the development of behaviors that will empower adolescents to make healthy choices.
  • To provide opportunities for the reinforcement of existing positive behavior and strengthening of life skills that enable young people to protect themselves from and to cope with risky situations they encounter in their lives.

Eligibility

Student should fulfill the following conditions:

  1. All students studying at the secondary and senior secondary level in government, local body and government–aided schools, educational guarantee schemes (alternative innovative schemes, across the India
  2. All out-of-school children and adolescents being catered to by the adult literacy programs
  3. Students of open schooling/open university systems

  1. District Education Office/District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) at District Level Or
  2. Adolescence Education Cells in SCERTs/SIEs/Directorates of Education Or
  3. State Core Committee at State Level Or
  4. National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT)Or
  5. Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) Or
  6. National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) Or
  7. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) Or
  8. Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) at National Level.
