Integrated Child Development Services Scheme (ICDS) for Pregnant, Lactating mothers, Children, Goa


Description

This is a Government of India Scheme, being implemented in this State through the office of the Child Dev. Project Officers in all the 11 talukas of the State. Under the scheme, Anganwadi centres have been set up in Rural and Urban areas. At present (as on July 2008), there are 1112 Anganwadi centres. In the centres, six services namely, Immunization, Health Check-up, Referral Services, Supplementary Nutrition, Nutrition and Health Education and Non-formal Education, are being provided. Objective

Pregnant & Lactating mothers and Children in the age group of 0-6 years.

Eligibility

Pregnant & Lactating mothers Children in the age group of 0-6 years. i) Population i) - 400-800 - one Anganwadi Centre. ii) 800-1600 - to Anganwadi Centres iii) Distance - One km. from another Anganwadi Centre. iii) No. of beneficiaries - Pregnant, Lactating women and children in the age of 0-6 years. ( Children of 0-2 years as beneficiaries and 2-6 years for attending Anganwadi Centre ) . The applicants should address to the Child Dev. Project Officer of respect Project/Taluka, the same will be forwarded to the Directorate, after survey and then forwarded to Government of India for approval and sanction of Anganwadi Centre in respective Blocks.

Benefits

  1. Under Nutrition Programme, dry take-home packets of cereals and pulses are provided to pregnant women and nursing mothers (up to 6 months’ age of the child), at the rate of Rs.5.00 per day, per child and Rs. 8.00 per day for pregnant lactating mothers, for 25 days in a month. The dry packets are also given to the children in the age group of 6 months to 2½ years, through the Anganwadi Centres. Malnourished children are being given special attention by referring them to Government Hospitals/ GMC and providing them dry packets or cooked nasta @ Rs. 9.00 per day/per child.
  2. The children in the age group of 2 ½ to 6 years, are attending Anganwadi centres. They are given cooked Nasta containing cereals and pulses such as moong dal, masoor dal, gram dal, etc. The Anganwadi Centres are working from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM on all days except, Sundays, second Saturdays and public holidays.
  3. Nutrition Programme for Adolescent Girls (NPAG): The undernourished adolescent girls in the North Goa District are to be provided 6 kgs of rice grains per month under the Scheme during the financial year 08-09. N.B: For enrolling the child at Anganwadi Centre, there is no bar or any condition of domicile, etc.
