Description

This scheme is for the students with disabilities studying in the class 9th to 12th, namely blindness, low vision, leprosy-cured, hearing impairment, locomotor disabilities, mental retardation, mental illness, autism, and cerebral palsy and may eventually cover speech impairment, learning disabilities, etc. Girls with the disabilities are especially focused on helping them to have access to secondary schools, as also to information and guidance for developing their potential. Setting up of Model inclusive schools in every State is proposed under the scheme.

Objective

It aims to achieve following goal:

  • To enable all students with disabilities, to pursue further four years of secondary schooling after completing eight years of elementary schooling in an inclusive and enabling environment.

Benefits

This scheme gives a scholarship to the students with disabilities. The amount of scholarship is Rs. 600/- per disabled child per annum.
