This scheme is for the Children of Prisoners to educate them in order to control the birth of new criminals in society. There are many persons imprisoned, some for known reasons and others for unknown reasons. Once they are lodged in jail their families that are suffering the most. They get excluded from the society. Due to the lack of money their children might be denied education at a very early age itself. So that to educate them, this scheme has been initiated with the aim of bringing these people to the mainstream of the society.


To educate the Children of Prisoners.


The following conditions should be fulfilled to avail the benefits under this scheme:

  1. Children of women and other prisoners sentenced for imprisoning for 2 years or more
  2. Children should belong to below poerty line(BPL) family
  3. This is a one time assistance.


Children of Prisoners


Benefits under this scheme are summarised as below:

  1. An amount of Rs. 500 per month will be given to children up to 10th standard limited to Rs. 6000/- per year
  2. An amount of Rs. 1000 per month from plus two and above limited to Rs. 12,000/- per year

  • Contact the Superintendent of nearby welfare institutions of Social Justice Department, Kerala
  • Deputy Director of Women and Child Development of the respective Districts Or
  • Child Development Project Officer (CDPO)
