Description

The scheme is meant to rehabilitate the dependents of the poor convicts.

Objective

The prime goal of this scheme is to assist/encourage resourceless wives, unemployed and unmarried sons, daughters etc.The financial assistance is given to such people.

Eligibility

Under the fulfillment of the following conditions, Benefits can be availed:

  1. Families of such convicts who had undergone imprisonment for a period of 7 years or above can avail financial assistance.
  2. The families are eligible for the assistance only during the period of imprisonment of the convict.
  3. The annual family income of the convict should not be more than Rs. 24,000/- per year
  4. The dependants of the convict who have crime records other than the undergoing one are not eligible for financial assistance under the scheme.
  5. Financial assistance shall be given only once for the dependents of a prisoner for the purpose.
  6. The financial assistance will be provided to those eligible persons who have not availed the amount for the same purpose previously.

Beneficiaries

Major children, if they are students and women having children, are included in this scheme. Able-bodied single women will not be included in this scheme.

Benefits

The maximum amount of financial assistance is Rs. 10,000 is given to family only once. This is a loan-linked scheme. 30% of loan subject to a maximum of Rs. 10,000/- will be given as subsidy from the Government for the loan they avail from Banks, Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation, Kerala State Backward Classes Development Corporation, Kerala State Development Corporation for SCs/STs etc

  • Deputy Director of Women and Child Development of the respective Districts Or
