Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) party leader Devendra Fadnavis took charge as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on 31 October 2014 along with other ministers. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena (SS) coalition formed the Government under the leadership of Devendra Fadnavis on 31 October 2014.

On 08 July 2016 Maharashtra government Cabinet expansion took place in which 11 new ministers is added. Devendra Fadnavis inducted 10 new faces in his council of ministers. New Six Cabinet ministers and Five MoS is added, Seven From BJP and Four from alliance partners. The Government of Maharashtra now consists of total 39 Ministers including 23 cabinet ministers and 16 Minister of state(MoS). The Cabinet of the state of Maharashtra forms the executive branch of the Government of Maharashtra.

There are two types of the minister in Maharashtra government, which is determined by the position or grade. The superior or primary being "Cabinet Minister" and the junior or secondary being "minister of State". The following is a list of the ministers (state cabinet) in the Maharashtra Government. Cabinet Minister is the main in-charge of a ministry. A cabinet minister may also hold additional charges of other Ministries if no other cabinet ministers are appointed to take charge of that ministries. Minister of state(MoS) of Maharashtra.

Minister of State (Mos) handles or takes charge of specific responsibility in that ministry. For example, a minister of state in the Education Ministry may only handle Primary Education.
