Description

Under this scheme, the financial assistance is provided for the higher education of girls from economically and socially backward families. This scheme is for the girl who born after January 2014. Government of Maharashtra deposits an amount on the birth of the girl, and the amount will be paid after when the girl becomes 18 years old.

Objective

An insurance scheme for the girl child. The scheme’s objective is to provide monetary help for higher education of girls from economically and socially backward families.

Eligibility

The following conditions should be fulfilled to avail the benefits under this scheme:

  • The girl child belonging to below poverty line(BPL) families born after January 2014.

Benefits

The benefits under this scheme are summarised as below:

  • The girl child would get an amount of Rs 1 lakh to finance her education after she completes 18 years of age was approved at a Maharashtra state cabinet meeting here.
  • The Government Of Maharashtra deposits an amount of Rs 21,200 in the name of the girl child, in a bank. When the girl completes her 18 years of age, the maturity amount of Rs 1 lakh is given to the girl. This amount can be used only for the purpose of education.
