Scheme for Mega Food Park for farmers capital grant

This scheme provides mechanism to link agricultural production and market by bringing together farmers, processors and retailers to ensure maximising the value addition, minimising the wastages, increasing farmers’ income and creating employment opportunities particularly in the rural sector. This is based on “cluster” approach and envisages a well-defined agree /horticultural processing zone containing state-of-the-art processing facilities with support infrastructure and well-established supply chain. These include Collection Centres, Primary Processing Centres (PPC), Central Processing Centres (CPC) and Cold Chain infrastructure.

One-time capital grant of 50% of project cost (excluding land cost) subject to a maximum of Rs.50 crore in general areas and 75% of project cost (excluding land cost) subject to a ceiling of Rs.50 crore in difficult and hilly areas, i.e., North-East Region including Sikkim, J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and ITDP notified areas of the states.
Programme Management Agency (PMA) is appointed by the Ministry to provide management, capacity building, coordination and monitoring support. Separate amount to the extent of 5% of overall grants available is earmarked.
