Sabla or Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls nutrition and health


Description

This scheme is popularly known as SABLA Scheme.This scheme is Centrally Sponsored Scheme for benefitting Adolescent Girls( AGs). Empowering adolescent girls (Age) of 11–18 years with focus on out-of-school girls by improvement in their nutritional and health status and upgrading various skills like home skills, life skills and vocational skills. Also It emphasis on on Out of School Adolescent girls who are provided life skill education and vocational training along with supplementary Nutrition.

Objective

The objectives of this scheme are summarised as below:

  • To enable the Adolescent Girls for self-development and empowerment
  • To improve their nutrition and health status of adolescent girls.
  • To promote awareness about health, hygiene, nutrition, Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health (ARSH) and family and child care.
  • To Upgrade their home-based skills, life skills and tie up with National Skill Development Program (NSDP) for vocational skills
  • To Mainstream out of school Adolescent Girls into formal/non formal education
  • To Provide information/guidance about existing public services such as PHC, CHC, Post Office, Bank, Police Station, etc.
  • To make awareness among them about health, hygiene, nutrition, Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health (ARSH), and family and child care
  • To upgrade home based skills, life skills and vocational skills

Benefits

Under this scheme, The following services are provided:

  1. Nutrition provision: Healthy nutrition is supplied to AGs
  2. Iron and Folic Acid (IFA) supplementation
  3. Health check-up and Referral services
  4. Nutrition & Health Education (NHE)
  5. Counseling/Guidance on family welfare, ARSH, child care practices and home management
  6. Life Skill Education and accessing public services
  7. Vocational training for girls aged 16 and above under National Skill Development Program (NSDP)
