Scheme For Infrastructure Development In Minority Institutes (IDMI) Financial Assistancce for organizations


Description

The scheme provides education of minorities by augmenting and strengthening school infrastructure in Minority Institutions (elementary/ secondary/senior secondary schools) in order to expand facilities for formal education to children of minority communities(include Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Zoroastrians (Parsis) and Jains notified as minority communities under Section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.). This scheme includes that all students irrespective of caste, creed, language or sex have access to education of comparable quality. The Policy lays special emphasis on removal of disparities and equalizing educational opportunities by attending to the specific needs of those who have remained educationally backward so far.

Objective

The objectives of this scheme are summarised as follows:

The scheme provides education of minorities by augmenting and strengthening school infrastructure in Minority Institutions (elementary/ secondary/senior secondary schools) in order to expand facilities for formal education to children of minority communities. The scheme will inter alia encourage educational facilities for girls, children with special needs and those who are most deprived educationally amongst minorities.

Eligibility

Voluntary organizations/societies/trusts should fulfill the following conditions

  1. Voluntary organizations/societies/trusts running institutes/schools that are recognized by Central or State governments of India shall be eligible to apply for assistance under the scheme.
  2. Only those voluntary agencies, which have been in existence for a minimum of three years, would be considered for assistance under this scheme.
  3. Voluntary organizations eligible under the scheme should: - have a proper constitution or Articles of Association; - have a properly constituted managing body with its powers and duties clearly defined in the constitution - be in a position to secure the involvement, on voluntary basis, of knowledgeable persons for furtherance of their programmes; not be run for the profit of any individual or a body of individuals;not discriminate against any person or group of persons on the ground of language or sex etc;- not function for the furtherance of the interests of any political party; nor in any manner incite communal disharmony.
