All india Trinamool Congress (AITC) Party leader Mamata Banerjee took charge as the Chief Minister of West Bengal on 20 May 2011. The Government of West Bengal consists of 32 cabinet ministers and 8 minister of state.. The Cabinet of the state of West Bengal forms the executive branch of the Government of West Bengal. The West Bengal Vidhan Sabha (West Bengal Legislative Assembly) consists of 294 members (MLA), and these members are elected for five years. All india Trinamool Congress (AITC) formed the Government under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee on 20 May 2011.

There are two types of the minister in state government, which is determined by the position or grade. The superior or primary being Cabinet Ministers "Cabinet Minister" and the junior or secondary being "minister of State".

Cabinet Minister is the main in-charge of a ministry. A cabinet minister may also hold additional charges of other Ministries if no other cabinet ministers are appointed to take charge of that ministries.
